Crunch Time

Crunch Time.

I just thought of something.

In our NBA Fantasy League, scoring is imba. I’m not sourgraping or anything since my team, the La Mesa Damn, are in the lower part of the middle pack but that’s how I see it. Currently, the multipliers are as follows:

Points = 1 x 1
Defensive rebounds = 1 x 1.5
Offensive rebounds = 1 x 2.0
Assists = 1 x 2.0
Steals = 1 x 2.5
Block = 1 x 2.5
Fouls = 1 x -0.5
Technical fouls = 1 x -1
Turnovers = 1 x -1
Double-double = 5 points
Triple-double = 20 points
Quadruple-double = 100 points

While we all agreed with the multipliers, I noticed that our system is flawed for the scorers. I mean Kevin Martin had 45 points and he barely helped his team because he concentrated on his scoring that he forgot about the other stats. Paul Millsap had a point game and that also happened.

I’m not trying to imply on changes this season... but I’m just saying it’s an imbalance.

Maybe one point is equal to 1.25 points?

I’m just sayin’...

Come to think of it, if I’m going to have a grading system, I’ll probably add a bunch of new stats. For example, I’m going to push that field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and 3 point percentage be considered.

Maybe if their percentage is multiplied to 15, then these categories would matter. A perfect score would be 100 percent and multiplied by 15, and then it would be 15 points.

Also, in terms of the draft, the first two rounds are single drafts but in the next round, teams would need to pick three players whose positions are different from the previous selections. In the succeeding rounds, teams will pick one big man (C, PF, SF) and one big small man (PG, SG, SF) per round.

There will be a total of ten players in the starting lineup.

Thirteen players will be picked in the draft. After the draft, teams can still pick two players – from the free agent pool and an extra pick to place in the injured reserve list.

I also noticed that some players (namely me) use the free agent pool as the expansion of their bench. A team can pick a particular player from the free agent pool twice. After that, that team can’t get that player anymore.

It’s a bit hazy but I’m trying to fully envision it.

Anyway...

Anyway, I’m going to strengthen my team before the trade deadline. I still want a consistent performer and I’m still leaning towards either Blake Griffin or Pau Gasol. I believe that while the odds are stacked against my team, I am two players away from doing damage. Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Rajon Rondo, Danny Granger, Luis Scola, and Paul Pierce needs to be more consistent.

Hopefully I can make that happen.

Game over.
