Azkals lose to Kuwait
I blame the NBA players.
Instead of people praying for the Philippine Azkals, every sports fan is praying for a chance to score tickets and see Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and Derrick Rose in action.
What happened? Nasser, Nada, and El-Ibrahim happened.
Kuwait sank the Azkals, 3-0.
The Azkals missed the services of Stephan Schrock and Aly Borromeo and it showed. The defensive awesomeness we held dear was MIA as Al-Azraq unearthed our weaknesses.
Neil Etheridge could do so much and with the Azkals “clog a particular lane” defense not working, the Kuwaitis scored. There were no Phil Younghusband, Chieffy Caligdong, or Angel Guirado goals. There were no nifty James Younghusband, Manny Ott, Ian Araneta, and Paul Maulders assists. All we had was a bunch of Kuwaitis raining down on our parade to move to the next round.
So what now?
Now we have to pray long and hard that the Azkals would somehow score four magnificent goals and blank Kuwait in order for us to score a seat to the next level. We can blame a lot of things on the distractions, the immaturity, and even on the pitch but we need to rally on our boys for them to amount to something.
Anyway, after all these NBA stuffs are over... root for our football team as they battle the Kuwaitis here.
