Barroca goes to B-Meg

When the Shopinas Clickers drafted Mark Barroca as the fifth pick of the 2011 PBA Draft, we thought we saw the future of the franchise.

Well that future headed elsewhere.

Like what happened in the Red Bull-Purefoods trade from way back, the B-Meg Llamados eventually got their wish to include Barroca in their roster in a trade that also had Shopinas’ sister team Barako Bull in it.

Let’s check out the news around the trade:

B-MEG: Yeah! Check out B-Meg! They’re strong! Sending a big man they don’t need for a point guard they could need is good for the squad! Coach Richard Del Rosario will be a happy camper with this development. Hopefully Barroca will not become trade bait for LA Tenorio because that if this happens, Del Rosario will be sent to the curve in lieu of the said entry of Tim Cone to their coaching staff.

BARAKO BULL: The Energy is a good name... if they weren’t called Energy Boosters a season ago! Like I said, Barako Bull gave up the “Boosters” tag in the Petron Blaze BOOSTERS trade and yes, I hate the Boosters moniker! Don Allado is an upgrade from Elmer Espiritu and all of a sudden, Barako Bull has a frontcourt!

SHOPINAS: The Clickers now own Brian Ilad! Yehey! Pfft. Well, despite his past allegiances with now-coach Franz Pumaren, that deal is lopsided. Thankfully they also got a future pick and Elmer Espiritu for the Smart-Gilas playmaker. I am excited with what they’ll do with Espiritu. When Espiritu was given playing time, he made the most out of it. What better way to forget a dismal season than by playing for a talent-depleted squad and do wonders with this opportunity! Meanwhile, I kind of dazed and confused with the trades in the league since should be Tiger Ogie Menor and should be Tropang Texter Bam Gamalinda are practicing with the squad and make their lineup! Others in line for consideration are veterans Marlou Aquino and Renren Ritualo.

Now let’s check out the rest of the league:

ALASKA: With the exodus of Tim Cone, Joel Banal is making the necessary adjustments for his Aces. Sources indicate that Eric Salamat and Julius Pasculado are battling for the final backcourt spot while Mac Baracael and Ariel Mepana have a great chance of making the team.

GINEBRA: Rudy Hatfield has moved on with his life but basically the Kings are intact. Mark Caguioa, Eric Menk, and Yancy de Ocampo have signed fresh deals with Jayjay Helterbrand trying to prove his worth to the squad by just signing a one-conference contract. Enrico Villanueva will also be back and Reil Cervantes and James Martinez were signed to Siot Tanquingcen’s delight.

MERALCO: Asi Taulava leads a bunch of players that inked fresh deals. The Bolts have also signed Smart-Gilas star Jason Ballesteros and second round pick Gilbert Bulawan. The Bolts also acquired Mark Macapagal via trade, and Chico Lanete and Bryan Faundo through free agency. Looking to break the squad are Borgie Hermida and Chris Timberlake who at this point, should be part of the TNT Tropang Texters.

PETRON: I think the Blaze Boosters have a solid team already with the re-addition of Dondon Hontiveros and Carlo Sharma as well as the drafting of Chris Lutz but deep inside I want to save Nonoy Baclao from the hellhole he is in right now. Moving on...

POWERADE: Mico Halili is starting a campaign in his blog to bring back Homer Se. Well, the rough-housing forward was just signed by the Tigers. Also signed to deals are the comebacking Alex Crisano and Kenneth Duremdes. However, they must solve the issue surrounding the disappointed of JV Casio because everything else will be all for naught.

RAIN OR SHINE: Gabe Norwood has re-signed with the Elasto Painters and combining him with Paul Lee, they make a potent and exciting backcourt combo. Also joining the squad is former AMA standout and Sta. Lucia Realtor Chito Jaime.

TALK N TEXT: As if to say “we are contended on what we have right now” I’m guessing the Tropang Texters are just bent on keeping Pamboy Raymundo. This is why the players they got from the Meralco trade like Timberlake and Gamalinda are trying out on other teams elsewhere.

So that’s about it, people.

Until the next updates!

Game over!
